Good morning!

Yesterday's photos showed a sweet, demure little girl. Today's images show the rest of the story. Although - she is a sweet little girl - she likes to have a lot of fun, too!

Have a great day today!

Good Glorious Morning to you!

Today I get to photograph 3 month old baby Finn. I love babies. I'm so excited.

A couple of weeks ago I was talking with Finn's mommy, Michele. She expressed some worry about the fear of people thinking badly of her if she has too many portraits in her home. Well, you can image my reaction. I fully understand her thoughts. You see, in MN particularly, we have this thing that is within us in which it is 'bad' to draw attention to ourselves.... I, too, have that disease. I read something about this. I don't remember the details well but, it stems from beliefs our ancestors had 200 years ago.

I have so much I can say about this but, most importantly ... "WHY would it be bad to show the love you have for your family by hanging pictures/portraits on your wall????" Why would it be better to have pictures of a landscape, deer or flowers rather than your children??? What better way to say "I love you." "Our family is important." "I treasure you." .... than to have photographs hanging on your walls so that the 'stories' of these photographs may be told and re-told time and again.

It seems as tho' portraits become more valuable as each chapter is added to your life. For Finn, today's portraits become more valuable when he goes to Kindergarten, when he graduates from high school, when he is married and... when he has his first child.

So, again ... I will say ... Have no regrets. Portraits are sooo worth it.

Have a super duper day!

A Portrait On The Wall

It seems as though time

slipped by so quickly.

We went from having toddlers

in the house, to

the needing of new sneakers,

braces, prom dresses and

miraculously they were

soon off to college.

We were always on the go and

the changes slipped by so quickly.

Yesterday I had a few moments

to myself and stood by quietly

remembering our family’s growth.

And there on the wall over

the fireplace were the

“scrubbed clean” faces

of so long ago.

The children were so full of

energy and there in the one

single portrait, came back all

the memories.

The portrait, that at the time

seemed so much of a

challenge, today is so

precious and irreplaceable.

That portrait will keep

those memories

of our family together,

forever young.

Happy Monday!

FRIDAY! February 22, 2008

HAPPY FRIDAY!

Did you know that Studio D does Children's Portrait Parties? Have you never heard of a Portrait Party? A Children's Portrait Party is similar to a Tupperware or Pampered Chef party. Studio D is the first and possibly only studio in the St. Cloud area to offer Children's Portrait Party.

As a hostess a Children's Portrait Party is a great opportunity to earn free ,beautiful, professional portraits of your children while having a lot of fun

How does it work?

Your Portrait Party takes place in the comfort of your home where children feel comfortable and natural in their surroundings. As a host you will invite your sisters, friends and neighbors and schedule a 20 minute session for each of them.

I will arrive to your home approximately 1 1/2 hours prior to the first scheduled session. I will bring a background and a few basic props.

What is the cost of a Children's Portrait Party?

The cool thing is that there is NO SESSION FEE --- and --- portrait prices are approximately 10% less than regular studio pricing --- and --- as host you will receive FREE PORTRAITS.

What are the hostess responsibilities?

1. Personally confirm a minimum of 6 guests for your Portrait Party.
2. Schedule each guest for a 20 minute portrait session.
3. Provide an adequate space to set up a background and photograph your guests.

How will we order our portraits?

There is a minimum order of $50. That $50 payment is due at the time of the portrait session. It will be applied to your portrait order.

Within a week after your Portrait Party you and your guests will receive a web link and password to view and order their portraits.

You will be able to place your order on-line if you would like or you can schedule an appointment to come into the studio to place your order.

Proofs will be on-line for 7 days. All orders must be placed within that time.

If you think you are interested in hostessing a Children's Portrait Party let me know and I will send you more information. denise.studiod@gmail.com or 320-202-0288.

Have a super duper weekend ....

Good Glorious Morning to you!

This week is going by soooo fast. I can hardly believe that it is Thursday.

And you know what ... that is what happens with the lives of our children, too. One day you are bringing home a soft, warm, little bundle and the next thing you know this little person is walking and talking and then going to school and then graduating and so on and so on. It all goes by in a blink. This is nothing new. We've all heard this so very many times. But, I sure did not imagine when I was a young mom just how fast it would go. I can't believe my son will be 28 in April. I'm so incredibly proud of him and feel very fortunate that he is my son.

Guess what? Josh and I need our portrait taken. It has been a while. I'm starting to feel like the plumber with a leaky faucet. Josh's Dad and his family were here in January (from TX) and so we had all of them into the studio for portraits. It was such a BLAST. We got some great images. I am very happy that Josh has these portraits of his dad, Sheri and his sisters.

One day soon I am going to post a poem about having portraits taken. You will like it.

The portrait I am including today is of a young mother, her young daughter and her mother. She just contacted me recently to tell me how many compliments they get on the storyboard we did for her. She is living in London. They will be visiting their family in St. Cloud next month and have scheduled an appointment at the studio. This time with their second daughter who was born last June.

Schedule time for your children's portraits. Or portraits with the kids and Grandma. Or maybe just Grandma. You'll never regret taking the time to record your family through portraits. I promise.

Good glorious morning!

Baby, it's COLD outside! But, only 4 more weeks until spring! I can hardly wait!

Today is Owen's 2nd birthday! Owen is a little guy who came into the studio for 12 consecutive months during his first year. It was sooo cool to see him grow and morph into himself. He is a very sweet little guy. I haven't seen him since his 1st birthday and this morning I am missing him. His mommy, Jessica, has kept me in touch by sending me snapshots she has taken of Owen and his new baby sister.

There are days that I feel as tho' I am still morphing into myself. Particularly with the studio. I feel so blessed to be doing what I do. My days are adventurous and with much variety. I get to meet the best people. I am allowed into people's lives during very special times. And I get to photograph those special times. They ask me to record this time so that they will never forget this moment --- the feelings of the day; the little toes and big smiles; the love of holding one another captured in time.

I always say "You will never regret having a portrait taken." Have no regrets. Take time for a portrait session - it is so worth it!

Have a magnificent day!

Another coooold day in St. Cloud. I had an early morning meeting, at 7:30, this morning. It was a Business Owner's meeting. It's a great group of women who all own their own business and come together once or twice a month to support one another. It makes us all better business owners.

I want to remind you of our promotion right now.... schedule a children's portrait session during spring break and get 66% off your session fee. You will save $50. The sale price is $25.

With all my sessions you always get a pre-session consultation. This helps me to learn more about your preference and desired outcome of the session. I am also able to share my knowledge with you. I can help you prepare for your session. The preparation prior to a session often makes or breaks the outcome. I have a lot of information to share with you.

I hope that you are staying warm... spring is just 4 weeks away!!!

Take care,
Denise

President's Day

Good Glorious Morning...

Welcome to my second blog posting. This is so new to me. It is my goal to post a new posting everyday. I hope to share information about Studio D, information about preparing for your portraits session and some of my beautiful portraits. But, first I am test driving all the options that are available and deciding how I want my blog to look and how it will operate. It's all so exciting!

I've gotten a new smaller sized logo but, now it is too small. Grrr. Logos are a science. I have great appreciation for the design artist who designed all my logos - Jill Lucas.
